Gladys Schoenberger, age 93 of Middleton, passed away on Saturday March 23, 2012 at the UW Hospital in Madison. She was born April 21, 1919 in Kenosha, the daughter of James and Maude (Priddis) Schmelling.  

Gladys married Theodore Schoenberger on May 15, 1942 in Gresham.  After graduating from the Bellin School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, she worked for many years at the Shawano and Tigerton Hospitals.  Following her husband’s death she moved to the Middleton area to be closer to her family.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Caren) Schoenberger of West Simsbury, CT and their children, Steve and Heidi; Kay (Jim) Cooper of Stevens Point and their children, Bill, Mike and Amy David (Shannon) Schoenberger of Augusta, GA; Brenda (Mike) Gaab of Middleton and their children, Katie, Ryan, Sara and Molly; and eight great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and five brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 7450 University Ave. Middleton at 11 a.m. on Monday March 25, 2013 with Msgr. Douglas Dushack presiding.  A visitation was also held from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at church on Monday.  A private burial is at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Cemetery in Gresham.
