MIDDLETON–Donald Ralph Harrop, 104, of Middleton, passed away on July 19, 2021. He was born on April 24, 1917, the son of Ralph and Martha (Schuldt) Harrop in Arena Township. Don graduated from Arena High School in 1935. He married Veronica Statz on Feb. 11, 1939.

Don served as an assistant manager of an F.W. Woolworth store for two years in Milwaukee. He owned and managed multiple rental properties, was co-owner of Statz and Harrop Painting, Dry Wall and Steel Studs, Co., retiring after 25 years. After retiring he started Harrop Painting and Decorators. Don was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Society of The Holy Name. He was also a member of Painting and Decorating Contractors of America and the Madison Builders Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, traveling, playing euchre and dominos and watching line-dancing in Nashville. He enjoyed four-wheeling and snowmobiling with his grandchildren. He was an avid Packers and Bucks fan. Go Bucks!

Don is survived by sons, James (Thelma) Harrop and R. Michael (Elaine) Harrop; daughter, Mary Anne (Gerard) Nonn; grandchildren, Tina (Ken) Klimke, Todd Harrop, Michael Harrop, Brenda Kay Harrop, Michelle Nelson, Brad Nelson, Debbie Wilson, Sharon (Michael) Williamson, Diana (Dan) O’Sullivan, Ashley Jo (Ben) Squier, Donny Paul (Emily) Harrop, Rachel (Trevor) Klaassen, Danielle  Nonn (Kyle Farrell) and Ryan Nonn; great-grandchildren, Cassandra Harrop, Jenna Harrop, Austin Ziegler, Taylor Ziegler, Hunter Ziegler, Angelica Harrop, Michael Williamson, Mathew Williamson, Daniel O’Sullivan and Chris O’Sullivan; great-great-grandchildren, Valory Harrop, Vanessa Harrop, Rosemary Klaassen and Chloe Squier; and sister, Marion Majors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica Harrop; his parents; sons, William Harrop and Donald (Pauline) Harrop; daughter, Judith Nelson; great-grandson, Marcus Harrop; sisters, Dorothy James and Margaret Maloney; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Maloney, Rodger Majors and David James.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on July 26, 2021, with Father Brian Wilk presiding. Burial followed at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon was held at the funeral home after the burial. Rosary was be said at Gunderson West Funeral and Cremation Care, 7435 University Ave. Middleton, at 4 p.m. on July 25, 2021, followed by a visitation from 4:30-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation was also held at church from 10 a.m. until the start of the Mass on Monday.
