MIDDLETON–Dorothy M. (Endres) Hellenbrand, 98, passed away on Nov. 20, 2021, at Waunakee Manor. She was born on June 10, 1923, the daughter of Ludwig and Catherine Endres. Dorothy married Harold P. Hellenbrand on February 24, 1941, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church. She and Harold lived their entire married life in Middleton.

Mom was a wonderful example of a life well-lived. She was a devoted and loving wife and took great care of our dad during his long illness. Dorothy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, taking care of her 17 children, 30 grandchildren and 39-great-grandchildren. She loved taking care of her vegetable and flower gardens and was a wonderful cook and baker. Mom was a great seamstress, making much of our clothing. She loved quilting, making many cherished quilts for her family. Dorothy was a member of the St. Bernard’s Christian Mothers and the Rosary Society, making many rosaries for the missions. Mom enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards and was a loyal fan to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Mom will always be remembered as the greatest inspiration to all of us. Her deep faith has kept us together through all of our years growing into adulthood. Mom, we love you and you will be greatly missed.

Dorothy is survived by 16 children, Bill (Monica), Jim (Nancy), Joann, Tom (Carol), Jean (Terry), Dave (Karen), Mike (Susan), Kevin, Judy (Jon), Pattie (Scott), Linda (Dave), John (Karen), Larry (Denise), Dennis (Patti), Bob (Angie) and Tim (Hayley); 30 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; brother, Vincent (Lorraine) Endres; sister-in-law, Lucille Endres; brother-in-law, Delmar (Marion) Hellenbrand; sister-in-law, Theresa Kalschuer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; daughter, Nancy; son-in-law, Richard Gunderson; her parents; her in-laws, Tony and Katie Hellenbrand; brothers, Joseph, Donald and David; sisters, Elizabeth Zeigler, Marie Zeigler and Loretta Karls; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Leander, Albert, Ted and Wilfred Hellenbrand and MaryAnn Showers, Agatha Gugel, and Leona Laufenberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2015 Parmenter St., Middleton, at 11 a.m., on Nov. 27, 2021. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, a luncheon will be held at St. Martin’s Catholic Church Hall in Martinsville.
