RACINE–Angelo “Andy” Martino, 83, passed away March 24, 2022 at Ascension All Saints Hospital in Racine, surrounded by family. Andy was born in Lakeville, IN on December 18, 1938, son of the late Arcangelo and Ethel (nee: Rickel) Martino.

Andy graduated from Lakeville High School “Class of 1957.” He received a scholarship from the state of Indiana and used it to earn a 2-year degree in Tool and Die Design Engineering from the Acme School of Design. He met the love of his life, Ellen “Bunnie” Saeman through the Catholic St Dominic Club in Madison. On September 18, 1965, they were united in marriage at St Francis Xavier Church in Cross Plains. Through the years, Andy was employed with Case Company in Rockford, IL, Carnes Company in Verona, and lastly with Modine Mfg of Racine for 35 years until his retirement in 2000. He was a loyal member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In his spare time, you could find him tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. He was an excellent woodworker. He designed and built, serving trays, potato bins, shelves, Model T car, dorm loft, and a quilt rack. He was the proud owner of a 1959 Diamond Blue T-bird. An avid sports fan, he liked the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Badgers, Packers and Brewers, but he loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events of swimming, softball, baseball, soccer, tennis, dance recitals and band competitions. He enjoyed traveling the US, Canada and Europe with Bunnie, and camping with his family. Family meant EVERYTHING to Andy!

Andy will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 56+ years, Ellen “Bunnie”; daughter, Angela “Angie” Radosevich; son, Michael Martino; grandchildren, Viktor and Katerina Radosevich, Elizabeth, Bradley and Zachary Martino; sister, Martha Hochstetler; brother-in-law, Bill (Judy) Saeman; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, friends and dear neighbors.  In addition to his parents, Andy was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary (Larry) Blacharski, Josephine (Chuck) LeClercq, and Louise (Frank) Bezi.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Racine on April 2, 2022. Private burial was held at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cross Plains.

In lieu of flowers, the family established a scholarship fund to assist with the education costs of those unable to afford higher education, as “paying it forward” for the benefit Andy received as a scholarship recipient.
