Joseph “Doke” Langan

MADISON–Joseph “Doke” Langan, 68, of Madison, passed away on April 17, 2022. He was born on May 15, 1953, in Columbus, NE, the son of Joseph and Rosemary Langan. 

Joe was one of 11 brothers and sisters and grew up in Colorado. He graduated from Arvada West High School in 1971 and later served eight years in the US Navy. His proudest achievement while in the Navy was a successful search and rescue mission for which he earned a humanitarian aid award. Joe was an active member of the American Legion post No. 481.

Joe married Cheryl Nelson in 1985 and together they raised two daughters, Heather and Heidi.  He worked at Meriter Hospital as a mechanical engineer for 36 years before retiring in 2016.

Roland Richard "Dick" Wagner

MADISON–Roland Richard "Dick" Wagner, 78, passed away of a heart attack at his favorite eastside Madison park during a walk on Dec. 13, 2021.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1943 to Roland A. Wagner and Katherine (Moorman) Wagner at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH. He was a 1965 graduate of the University of Dayton, and later a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, M.A. (1967), and Ph.D. (1971) in American history.

While working for the State of Wisconsin in various budget, policy, and management positions for 33 years, Dick was also a member and the chairman of the Madison Landmarks Commission. In the late 1970s, Gov. Martin J. Schreiber appointed him to the Wisconsin Arts Board, where he served as chairperson, and also on the Wisconsin Humanities Council.

From 1980 to 1994, Dick was the elected Dane County board supervisor for District 6, representing the downtown/east-side portion of Madison.

Perry McMahan

MOUNT HOREB–Perry McMahan, 73, of Mount Horeb, left this earth on April 7, 2022, after living a full and productive life.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1949, the son of William and Fern (Hamilton) McMahan. He grew up in the Mount Horeb area and graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1967. Two years later, he was drafted into the US Army and proudly served as a SGT-E5, commandeering a self-propelled 109 mm Howitzer in Vietnam from April 1969 through March 1971.

For 42 years, Perry operated West Side Radiator and Auto Repair in Middleton. He took great pride in keeping heavy field equipment operational for farmers in the Waunakee, Middleton and Mount Horeb area. He also worked with scores of customers over the years to keep their vehicles safe and reliable.

RACINE–Angelo “Andy” Martino, 83, passed away March 24, 2022 at Ascension All Saints Hospital in Racine, surrounded by family. Andy was born in Lakeville, IN on December 18, 1938, son of the late Arcangelo and Ethel (nee: Rickel) Martino.

James Cody Cox

MIDDLETON–James Cody Cox, 63, of Middleton, entered into eternal rest on Aug. 17, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on Jan. 14, 1958, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Jim and Carolyn (Braun) Cox.   

James graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1977. He attended UW-Madison and graduated with honors from Northeastern with a degree in mathematics. On May 30, 2001, he married the former Nancy Perkins of Sextonville.

James is survived by his wife, Nancy; brother, Andy Cox; sister-in-law, Gloria Flathom of Oak Lawn, IL; and nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A memorial service will be held at Orchard Ridge United Church of Christ, 1501 Gilbert Rd., Madison, at 12 noon on April 30, 2022, with the Rev. Ken Pennings presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on April 30, 2022.

Richard Aeschbach

WINDSOR–Richard “Rich, Dick, Kung” Aeschbach lost his battle with cancer on April 17, 2022, with his wife, Karen by his side. No more pain or physical restrictions. Picture him soaring like an eagle just taking it all in. 

Rich is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen Aeschbach; Three brothers, Jim (Corinne) Aeschbach of Cross Plains, Bob (Eileen) Aeschbach of Dane, and Tom (Joni) Aeschbach of Waunakee;  Nine nieces and nephews, Maria (Eric) Gray of Portage, Wayne (Sarah) Aeschbach of Mount Horeb, Annette Aeschbach of Poynette, Brenda Aeschbach of Harmony Grove, Keith Aeschbach of Dane, Andrea (Matt) Klemm of Waunakee, Justin (Kate) Aeschbach of Germany, Josh ( Stacia) Aeschbach of Blue Mounds, and Jared (Chelsea) of Muskego.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick “Roy” and Coletta Aeschbach; and a nephew Aaron Aeschbach.

Warren H. Stolper

MIDDLETON–Warren H. Stolper died peacefully on April 1, 2022, at age 100.  He was one of the last members of the “Greatest Generation,” those whose lives were shaped by both the Great Depression and World War II.

Warren was born in Plymouth, the son of Herbert and Selma Stolper, on July 4, 1921, making him a “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” After graduating from high school in Plymouth, he attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison and graduated in 1942 with an accounting degree. Like many from the Greatest Generation, Warren answered his nation’s call to service in the Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, the bloodiest battle in the history of the US Army. This experience shaped his life for the next 75 years, cementing his belief in God and in the greatness of the United States.

Becky Dvorak

 

Becky Dvorak passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022 after a five-year battle against cancer, which she fought with courage, dignity and grace.

Becky was born in Clatonia, NE to Ivan and Birdene DeBoer on May 2, 1954, where she grew up on her family farm with her three sisters and brother.

She met her lifelong love, Gerald Dvorak, in 1968 where they dated for seven years before marrying in 1975. They celebrate 47 years of marriage on May 10 of this year.

Eunice Mae Christianson

MIDDLETON–Eunice Mae Christianson passed away peacefully on March 7, 2022. She was born on March 3, 1933, in Mazomanie, to Alvin Schumann and Fenella (Ketelboeter) Schumann. There, they raised Eunice, Arlene and Judy. The three sisters would become lifelong best friends.

Eunice met the love of her life, David Christianson, at a football game in DeForest, and went on to have four children, Cyndie (Sorum), David Christianson, Amy (Miller) and Jay Christianson in Middleton, in a house that they built. At that home, they invited Adam Malueg into their lives, and he instantly became a member of the family.

While raising her children, Eunice worked for many years with the Middleton School District where she touched many lives and gained many friends. Eunice loved and cherished her family and looked forward to any get-togethers with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

William J. Frisch

MIDDLETON - William J. "Bill" Frisch, 77, of Middleton, passed away on March 15, 2022, at home with family by his side. He was born on June 29, 1944, in Madison, the son of Ralph and Ruth (Punswick) Frisch.

Bill graduated from Middleton High School a long time ago. He married the love of his life, Jo Jeanne McQueen. Bill delivered fuel for Middleton Farmer's Co-Op for many years, and retired working for MCI plumbing. Bill's true love was landscape maintenance with his father and son. He was a member of the Middleton Fire Department for 16 years.

Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sports fan. He loved playing Euchre with family and friends and donated to many casinos along the way.
