MARSHALL–Ms. Doris Maier,85, of Marshall, passed away on July 8, 2021, with family by her side.
Doris was born on July 21, 1935, to George and Lena (Laufenberg) Wagner in Middleton. On August 12, 1954, she married Army Staff Sgt. Earl William Maier, the son of Mathias M. and Susanna (Susan) Rose (Maerz) Maier, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ashton, and later they had a honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls, NY and Canada.
The couple first farmed outside of Westport, and then in 1969 they moved to Marshall where they resided and farmed for many years.
Doris’ enjoyments were with her family, the farm, and reading whenever she could. She was a gentle, loving person always willing to listen to her children’s and grandchildren’s concerns with the promise they would be in her prayers.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Mae Haas of Waterloo, and four grandchildren: Thomas Maier (Michelle), Kyle Haas (fiancé Jess), Kristopher Haas, and Hayley Haas; her five great-grandchildren; Jordan Bliss, Jaelyn Bliss, Jada (Hunter) Schulte, Jack Maier, Ava Maier; and five great-great grandchildren; Noah, Avery, Emmett, Perseus, and Asher. She is also survived by her siblings; Ann Wagner, Robert (Colletta) Wagner, Irene (Fritz) Bindl, Helen Frey, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, on Feb. 21, 1999; her son, Thomas M. (Tommy) Maier, Sr., on Feb. 23, 2017; her beloved parents George and Lena; her three siblings: Fr. Donald Wagner, Delores Wagner, Stanley Wagner; and two infants.
Funeral services for Doris were held on Friday morning, July 16, 2021, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee with Msgr. James L. Gunn and Pastor Jorge Miramontes of Holy Family Parish in Waterloo concelebrating the mass with burial at the church cemetery. Winn-Cress Funeral Home in Waunakee served the family.
