Ronald "Ron" S. Endres, 71, of Middleton, passed away peacefully in Madison, on Nov. 26, 2022 after a brief battle with lung cancer with family by his side.

He was born on Sept. 19, 1951 in Madison, the second oldest child of Albert Mathias Endres and his wife Bernadette Catherine (Hellenbrand) Endres.

After attending Middleton High School in the late 1960s, Ron married Mary Ann Masino on Sept. 26, 1969 at Saint Peter Catholic Church in Ashton. Prior to their divorce in the early 1970s, they welcomed twin sons, Robert J. and Randall C., on Nov. 28, 1969.

Ron was best known for his culinary achievements. He worked most of his life as a chef and was lead chef at several popular restaurants around the Madison area including the Hoffman House in Madison and the Korner Keg in Martinsville; and he owned and operated two restaurants of his own over the years including the Sunrise Cafe in Plain. He was a great fan of music, and he also enjoyed reading, hunting, playing cards and, most of all, family time with his children, his siblings and his many nieces and nephews.

Ron is survived by his son, Robert (Suzanne "Sue") Endres of rural Whitewater; his sisters and brothers, Marlene Richards of Madison, Steven (Alice) Endres of Cross Plains, Mary (Ron) Stucki of Ashton, Eugene Endres of Ashton, and Victor (Michelle) Endres of Ashton; and his cherished grandchildren, Early Endres, Pace Endres, and Kaden Endres, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert (Jan. 7, 2003) and Bernadette (May 4, 1994) Endres; his son, Randall Charles Endres (Feb. 25, 2021); his younger sister, Sharon A. Endres (May 18, 1975); and his brother-in-law, Lawrence "Larry" D. Richards (Oct. 19, 2016).

A visitation to pay respects to the family was on Dec. 7, 2022, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home located at 5785 Hwy Q in Waunakee, followed by a private burial at St. Peter's Cemetery in Ashton. Ron was laid to rest with his parents, his son, his sister, and other relatives.

“Some would say Ron was a man of few words, and much of the time, he was. But that’s only because his heart did most of the talking. He was kind, generous, and will be dearly missed by all of us. I love you, Dad.” –Rob
