MIDDLETON/PLATTEVILLE–Larry G. White, 72, of Platteville; formerly of Branch Street and Parmenter Street in Middleton, passed away on April 6, 2021, at Edenbrook assisted living facility in Platteville. Larry was born July 10, 1948, in Savannah, Tenn., to James and Hazel White. The family moved to Chicago, Illinois in the mid-1950s, then Hazel and the kids moved to Linden, Wis. (in Iowa County) in 1966.

Larry received an associate degree from Madison Area Technical College in the early 1970s and started work at the historic Stamm House restaurant, 6625 Century Ave., in Middleton, shortly after that. He worked there for 31 years before moving to Platteville to be closer to his brother, Ed, in 2004. In 2005, Larry started working as a Walmart greeter and continued in that position and maintenance until his cancer diagnosis in October of 2020.

Larry enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and UW-Madison Badgers football and campfires with Mitch and his other neighbors at Evergreen Mobile Home Park and sitting in on monthly poker games with his brother, Ed.

He had pets all his life, including tropical fish, parakeets, and cats. He made friends easily and had many longtime friends, but none more than Jim and Lyn Passini of Cross Plains. He spent countless holidays and other vacations at their homes in Cross Plains and Rice Lake. Finally, he will be missed by his neighbors at Evergreen, particularly Connie and Clarence (Sonny) Claussen, and his longtime co-worker and next-door neighbor, Jackie Prall.

He is survived by his sister, Jeanette Schafer of Cobb; and brothers, Wille Earl White of Savannah, Edward (Laurie) White of Baraboo, and Sam Turner of Madison. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, James White and Hazel Faull; a sister, Sarah (James) Jewell; a brother, James Ricky "Slim" White; and a nephew, Eric Robert Griffiths.

Funeral services were held at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville on Saturday afternoon, April 10, 2021. Burial was at the Linden Cemetery in Linden.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Larry can be made to St Croix Hospice, 115 West Main Street, Platteville, WI 53818, or your local humane society.
