The Black Earth Fire Department snuffed out a fire in less than an hour after being called to a residence along Highway 78 in the Town of Mazomanie on June 11th. At 8:55 p.m. they got the call for an “echo level” structure fire—requiring the most immediate response and dispatch—and arrived on scene with ample help in tow.

The City of Middleton will begin its 2026 city budget discussions with a June 17 overview presentation for the Finance & Personnel Committee, and culminating with the approval of the city’s tax levy on Tuesday, Nov. 18, according to a calendar approved May 20 by the Middleton Common Council.

Bob Hesselbein was elected by his peers to serve as president of the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District board of education at its May 19 meeting. Other officers elected were Catherine Kells, vice-president; Marni Ginsberg, clerk; and Jim Coursey, treasurer. Hesselbein was first elected to the school board in 2018; his current term ends in 2028.
