CROSS PLAINS – Three candidates for the village stressed that they want the village to grow, offer more affordable housing and retain and recruit staff by improving their compensation. 

A full agenda awaited the Middleton Cross Plains Area School District for its March 17 meeting: there were comprehensive middle school and 4K/Early Education reports, an introduction to a “A Cardinal’s Journey,” and a vote on the Youth Center agreement with the city of Middleton that was brought forward at the March 3 meeting. 

Every spring, Middleton High School dedicates one week to showcasing local fine arts. In place of regular lessons, students spend their classes watching live performances ranging from jazz band music to a sketch comedy show. 

Wingra Stone has stepped up to support local law enforcement with a donation to the Middleton Law Enforcement Foundation (MiLEF), underscoring the company’s commitment to community safety and support. The donation comes at a time when law enforcement agencies are facing increasing budget challenges, making external support more crucial than ever.

The Middleton Common Council on March 4 presented retiring Middleton Police Department Officer Daniel Withee with a proclamation honoring his 10 years as an MPD officer and his 27 years in law enforcement.

The Middleton Common Council voted March 4 to extend its intergovernmental agreement with the Town of Middleton and extend its border discussions for at least one more year.

Middleton has officially welcomed its new Police Chief, Steven Thompson, following the retirement of longtime Chief Troy Hellenbrand. With over 18 years of law enforcement experience, Thompson is eager to bring his leadership and vision to the Middleton Police Department.

Acting on Pleasant View Golf Course Steering Committee recommendations, the Middleton Common Council on March 4 approved the purchase of more than $630,000 of equipment and furniture for the Pleasant View Golf Course.
